Acid and Motherload Wit
« on: 07/06/2010 06:36 AM »
The other night I had a Acid Blondie with New Belgium Motherload Wit.  Very good pairing.  New Belgium is in Fort Collins, Colorado and although Fat Tire by them can be found everywhere, you may not be able to get your hands on Motherload depending on where your at in the country.  The Acid flavors lent themselves quite nicely to the light fruity flavor of the Wit.  I recommend it for a warm summers night.

New Belgium brews some great beer.  I tried the 1554 over the weekend - very good stuff!  I'll have to look out for the Wit

We get Mothership Wit out here (from New Belgiun).  I wonder if it is the same brew.

The 1554 and their Abby are two of my favorite beers.

I love the Wit. I'll need to try that pairing. Maybe this weekend?

Nathan,

If you like the 1554, you should try the Optimator by Spaten.  It is a similar beer, but slightly better in my opinion.

Thanks for the tip - I'll keep an eye out for it.

I've really been turned onto New Belgium since I've moved to Colorado.  They have a quite a few beers in their arsenal that I'm comming to love.  The wit is their "organic" beer, which is the thingto do out here, but they do a heck of a job for a wit.  It's hard to find good European style beers by American brew masters.  I find one or two by different small brewerys on occassion that are worth mention and the Wit is one of them.
