ISOM / Cross borders trade
« on: 07/08/2014 05:23 PM »

A couple of months ago I contacted Sébastien (Mojo66) about the possibility of doing some kind of trade, or purchase from him. I was looking to try some ISOMs, and asked for his help. Sébastien being the awesome Geek that he is said that he would be more than willing to set up a trade with me. He asked what I was looking for, or what I liked. I had originally wanted to get my hands on some RASS, but he suggested putting together a sampler of fine ISOMs for me to try. GREAT idea I thought.

Sébastien sent his end of the trade a little while after we began talking about it. And man did he hit me good. He went WAY beyond what I was expecting. I would have been happy with a couple of nice sticks, but he blew me away with 10 fantastic looking, cigars, a lot of which are already nicely aged. A couple of them I have tried, and really like, but the rest are all new to me. I can't wait for them to get more rest time on them, as some of them are a little young still.

Without further adieu, here is a picture and list of everything that he sent to me.....

From left to right:

Cohiba Siglo V

2 Montecristo No. 2

Romeo y Julieta Romeo No. 1

2 Montecristo No. 4

Vegas Robiana Famosos (REALLY looking forward to smoking this one)

Partagas Series D No. 4

2 Ramon Allones Specially Selected

Thank You again Sébastien for helping me out, and going WAY above expectations!

I went out of town last weekend, and was busy this week, so I am just now getting around to being able to post this. Last Friday, Thomas sent over a package that just totally blew me away. It was totally unexpected, and overly generous. Thank you very much for this one brother! I don't know if I can wait until these get a whole lot of age on them to try them out! Without further adieu...

3 La Gloria Cubana Medaille D'or No. 4

2 Jose La Piedra Petit Cazadores

Thank you again brother! This really made my day when I opened it up.

Contests / Giveaways / Official May 2014 Contest
« on: 04/18/2014 04:29 PM »

So here goes the Official May Contest. I am going to copy Joe's contest from last month, as my wife is expecting our first kid.

The due date that the Doctor gave us is May 19th. We did find out the sex, and like Joe, again, we are having a boy as well. This is our first kind so there are no comparables. The contest goes like this......

Guess the date that my wife will give birth. And just in case more than one person guesses the same date, let's use time of day as a "tie-breaker". Each Geek gets ONE guess. Figured I would put this contest up now since the date is coming up. Good luck everyone!

Oh yeha, the winner will receive a 5er hand picked by myself.

How's life? / Need a little gun help....
« on: 03/24/2014 08:12 PM »
Been looking to make a new pistol purchase. Really like the look of the 1911's, but can't afford to drop the big money on a Kimber, or Wilson Combat, or Ed Brown or one of the other higher end brands. So my question is this, I saw some made by Rock Island Armory and was wondering if anyone knew anything about them? Do they make a quality product, or is it junk? The prices I saw fall into my budget, but I don't know anything about them. I have also considered the Taurus 1911 as I have heard and read a lot of good things about that gun for the price range.

ISOM / Hypothetical question
« on: 01/14/2014 07:45 PM »
Let's say hypothetically someone were to find a website that will ship ISOMs to the U.S. of A. And let's also say hypothetically that said website "guarntees" receipt of shipment or it will refund your money/replace the order. Does said website/person get notified if the cigars are confiscated coming into in country or how does that work? What's stopping the person that ordered them from claiming they were confiscated and sheating the system. Kind of a dumb question I know, so I'm sorry if it's something obvious. Again, this is all hypothetical since we all know that ISOMs are illegal for those of us in the U.S. to purchase.

Alcohol and Cigars / Rye Whiskey
« on: 01/09/2014 08:48 PM »
I have been wanting to try Rye Whiskey, but have zero experience with it. I was wondering if there are any Geeks that enjoy rye that could provide some insight as to what you like, and what would be a good rye for someone to try that has never had it before? I have heard of some of the "bigger named" brands, i.e. Bullitt, Sazerac etc., but have not tried any.

General Cigar Discussion / "Collecting" Cigars
« on: 12/19/2013 02:46 AM »
I have heard and read about people "collecting" cigars and was just wondering if anyone here is a collector? Are there certain cigars that you buy with the intention of just setting them in a special place in you humi and not smoking them? I understand letting cigars rest and age, but I honestly do not see the point in collecting cigars if you do not intend to smoke them. Anyone a collector, or is there anyone that can shed a little light on this idea?
